Today, we are going to do something interesting in our prompt. In books and movies we always know who the villain is and who the hero. There is never any doubt about it. But what if the roles were reversed? That is a take we are going to look at today!
Prompt: What if the hero was the villain, and the villain was the hero?
They don't even specifically have to switch roles. Take any character from your favorite book or movie, or even your original character. Are they a good person? Turn them into a villain. Are they a villain? Turn them into a good person. We are not looking at them in a villain arc, or redemption arc, just a new light, and new possibilities.
My Take
One that comes to mind, is Charlotte from The Princess And The Frog. She is sweet, excited, happy and a very good friend as well.
Her as a villain? Well, she'd still pretend to be sweet and pretend to be Tiana's friend. But I could see her as jealous when Tiana finds love with Naveen and gets her restaurant. Perhaps she'd be manipulating and working with the shadowman to destroy her life... And, what if she was the one who out-bid her at the beginning of the movie when she couldn't get her restaurant? This could honestly turn into a whole different, interesting story.
Conclusion
So, that's the take for today. If you simply change one thing of their (sub) plot, they can easily turn into a villain. It could even work with heroes and a main character. A hero that is supposed to be kind and saving their world, could secretly working with the villain, or have something for their own gain.
So, hope you all like this prompt! Let me know what you came up with, I would love to see your twists.
