How To Create A New Character Step By Step: My Creating Process

Intro

Ever been stuck on creating a new story with a new, unique character that can drive the story you want to write? Well, I have been for sure. To be honest, creating characters is hard for me sometimes, and they often all feel the same, but I try my best to make them more unique.

I have a process for creating completely new characters, and I would like to go through it with you, using one of my own characters as an example. She will be an RPG character for a discord server I am on in a Harry Potter universe. Hopefully this process can help you get through your own character creation.

12 Archetypes With Disney: The Rebel

Intro

Been a while since I have done one of these, but I am back with another 12 Archetypes with Disney. This time, we are exploring the Archetype of the rebel. The rebel is a character who rebels against the ones who currently have power. So let's dive in and see which characters are considered Rebels in my opinion.

Scene Analysis: Simba And Nala's Argument

Intro

Trying out something new today, and starting with some scene analysis from my favorite movies and showing how those scenes can make a great impact in the story. Starting off with my favorite movie: The Lion King (hey it's the one I know the best, so the best choice for the first time experiment 😜).

Starting off with a less iconic, but in my opinion, a very important scene in the movie. I will be analyzing Simba and Nala's argument when Nala finally has found Simba and wants him to return but Simba refuses and doesn't want to tell her what the problem is.

So let's break down this scene, and see why this scene is important.

Writing Pranks And Jokes

Intro

When you read or write a story, what is most important to you? The adventure? The character development? Worldbuilding? Honestly, those are very important, but what I love is small moments that don't really matter to the story, but give your characters some fun interactions. Who says your hero has to be all work and no play? Give them a day off! Have them joke around or have a prank war with their companions!

Musical Story Telling: How Disney Tells Through Music

Intro

Quick question to you all: What are you doing after you have finished watching your favorite Disney Movie? What is stuck in your head for the rest of the day or even days after whether you want it or not? If you answered 'the songs and music', then welcome to the club! I absolutely love Disney Music. I usually listen to the album non-stop before I have even watched the newest movies.

But what makes the music so memorable? Why does it stick in our head  after such a long time? Disney does not just make music, it tells a story through it. A story that I can imagine without even having watched the movie. So, let's dive into the musical journey of Disney, and why they manage to get to us so easily.

Plotting vs Pantsing

Intro

There are a lot of different ways to write a book. Some people outline their chapters and start writing, others need to have their worldbuilding characters and plots 100% outlined before they can even start writing. There are also people who just don't do any outlining and have a small idea in their head that they just start writing.

There really is no right way to write your novel, everyone has their own way of writing. But let's dive into the different methods of writing and see what the pros and cons can be of this method.

Disclaimer: What works for one person, doesn't work for another. That doesn't mean it's the wrong method. Everyone has something that works or doesn't work. Be nice and don't judge people for what method they like to use.

Now on the list, is the Seducer. Beautiful, mysterious, charismatic characters who have an allure to the main character. Of course, this doesn't have to be a woman, it can also be a male character.

So... Let's get into it. You know the drill: Try to think of some characters you'd consider to be in here, and let's see if we agree.
